Some of these are fun little gimmicks, whereas others can be complete god-sends. If you wish your car could do a little more for you, then read on. Accessories For Your Car
First of all, a Bluetooth-enabled phone holder. There are times when we all need to use our phones while driving. Obviously, groping blindly for it while trying to keep your eyes on the road isn’t the safest thing you can do. The best solution is a mount for it. If you’re going to buy one of these, you might as well get one that helps you even more. There are a lot of smartphone mounts out there which are Bluetooth enabled. These allow you better control over your phone without using your hands. Cortana and Siri work sometimes, but I’m sure you know their record isn’t always brilliant. However, some of these mounts come with mics designed to have better voice-recognition quality in a car. Smarter consumer research shows that a few models are very dependable. Whether making calls or using maps, a Bluetooth mount could be a great addition to your car.Image by Flickr
If you don’t want to lean on your phone for navigation, then you might want to consider a separate sat-nav device. We’re not seeing as many of these due to the development of navigation apps. However, they’re still available, and some of them are exceedingly useful. Many of the models from Tom Tom have been received with a lot of positive reviews. With a good enough sat nav, you’ll have access to a range of features other than a talking map. Some of them show you live traffic updates, ensuring you don’t take a turn right into the traffic jam from hell. Some others have links to travel sites such as Expedia and Trip Advisor. These will show you reviews for restaurants and hotels you happen to pull up to, which can be extremely useful on long road trips. Aside from that, the navigation itself can be a lot more dependable compared to smartphone apps. The way the latter performs hinges heavily on the network you use.Image by Wikimedia
A chassis cleaner could also be a helpful thing to have, especially in the winter. When the weather gets cold, the underside of your car will be constantly battered with corrosive road salts, and other bits of grit being coughed up. The best way to make sure you’re getting in everywhere is with a chassis pressure washer. The design of these things are simple, but incredibly useful. It’s essentially a plastic frame on wheels, which a pressure washer can plug into. Then, you simply wheel the thing under your car, rolling it methodically to cover the whole underside. You may not see the results all the time, true. However, when you’re getting into every nook and cranny, you’ll know that you’re steering clear of all kinds of chassis issues.
A rear bike mount can also be a big help if you and your family like taking bike rides. As you probably know, transporting bikes on your car can often be a nerve-wracking experience. Far too many frames are built to poor standards, and have been known to fail completely on the roads. The weight of roof racks can also have a subtle effect on the way your car handles. To get around these problems, get a rear bike mount instead. Most of these are sturdy and dependable, but not too heavy. Some of them can carry up to three bikes without the slightest difference in the way your car drives. There’s also an advantage in the fact that it’s mounted on the rear. Here, your bikes are suspended in the air, and you won’t have to spend hours scrubbing mud off the roof of your car. You can get some models which fold up when they’re not in use, too.
There you have some of the most useful car accessories available. There are all kinds of extras you could buy to make your driving experience even better. The accessories I listed here are exceptionally handy. However, they only make up the tip of the iceberg, so get looking!
